The right banquet table setting makes everyone’s dining experience more interesting, while keeping their gastronomic adventure definitely mouthwatering. There are so many factors that make your banquet look appealing, stylish and highly functional. Read on and find out some basic and easy-to carry-out ideas that will make your wedding—and almost any other gathering—definitely eye-catching.
The first thing that will catch everyone’s attention during special occasions are the centerpieces. You can choose among flowers, fruits, candles and other accessories. Whatever your choice, it should match the theme and complement with over-all atmosphere of the event.
Flowers
In flower arrangements, choose one type of flower and one predominating color to make the design visually appealing. The heavier the color, the lower it should be in the arrangement. Smaller, lighter flowers are excellent when placed on the sides and toward the top. Eliminate spotty effects by choosing similar or complementary colors and arrange colors of the same intensity together. Your flower container should not be too much of a scene stealer or the underdog. It should be as much a part of the picture of the table with its quality, texture, and color that complement with everything. A big no-no in flower arrangement is putting them up so tall that they are more of an obstruction rather than a nice decoration. Reserve tall arrangements for teas, cocktail parties, and in events where guests could view them in standing position.
Fruits
Fruits add a touch of uniqueness and breathe of bounty to any event. Keep the arrangements as simple as possible and they’ll be at their best. The fruits’ natural color and shape are the main factors that make them even more interesting. You make the arrangements even more interesting. If you are choosing only one type of fruit, choose a container that will reveal its own particular shape and color to its own advantage. You may also combine fruits and flowers for best effects. The delicacy of flowers could contrast or emphasize the fruits. But don’t do overdo it. Two to three blossoms or more in small glass holders could be tucked among fruits.
Candles
“Candles imbue romantic and cozy appeal and are best displayed on nighttime dinners and gatherings,” said Anthony Franco, events expert and owner of the catering software company Better Cater, For a table six feet long, displaying at four candles is ideal but an abundance of candle will make everything glisten—from your china pieces and silverware, to your crystal glasses and other utensils. For small square tables that fit two to three diners, two candles are ideal. For more interesting look, you may choose candles of varying heights. Combine the beauty of fresh blooms and glowing candles and make your table setting more exciting. Low flowers and tall candles are most ideal. When placing and lighting candles, they should be above eye level. To keep candles standing erect, go for stylish candle holders. And when it comes to candle colors, ivory is the most satisfactory because it fits almost any color.
